About me and my projects

Old streets, buildings and items have always drawn me in. I easily imagine myself in the past and yearn to be able to see, hear and smell the people that lived there and used those items. This history project, "Romiley Road", has been a way for me to get close to doing that. I immersed myself in the lives and experiences of the people living on Romiley Road in 1871, researching their pasts and futures and finding links between the families who resided there. Whilst the project began with the census information, I relied heavily on newspaper reports from the time to provide some depth to the residents' lives and even to give a clue as to how they would have spoken.

My enthusiasm for the people on the street became a little too much for my family so the Tiktok channel was begun and it is where I dumped all of my findings. I also began forming the findings into a book.

I am currently trying to finish editing the book but my brain would really like to start researching a new project...
